Internship Placement Procedures After the deposit is paid, the client’s application is allocated to an GAOXUN Placement Consultant. GAOXUN will then send an email introducing the Placement Consultant and confirming that the placement process has begun. The average placement processing time is 8 weeks. The Placement Consultant will begin canvassing the applicants CV to a number of suitable host companies, negotiating the right placement for the intern. If the host company would like to interview the applicant, GAOXUN will liaise with the partner to arrange a suitable time. Once the host company has been confirmed, GAOXUN will send an internship confirmation document to the partner. This document provides the following information: 1.Details about the host company (location, supervisor, company history) 2.Details about the roles and responsibilities of the student The document will be signed off by the company supervisor The applicant must then sign the host company confirmation document and return it to GAOXUN. Host Company Obligations Throughout the internship, the host company has to meet certain obligations including: → Allocate a supervisor to oversee the intern → Adhere to the training plan agreed upon prior to the internship → Involve the intern in the daily routines and operations of the company → Where possible, utilize the intern’s knowledge and experience within different areas of the business. → Provide an appropriate training environment for the intern → Provide a Statement of Completion for the intern in the end of the internship. Monitoring and Support GAOXUN takes great care to ensure that each intern receives individualized support while undertaking his or her internship. GAOXUN conducts the following procedures: - An orientation session is held at the GAOXUN office prior to the commencement of the internship. Interns must attend an orientation session prior to beginning their internship (unless the placement is outside that country).
- The host company is called the Monday prior to the internship beginning to ensure they are prepared for the upcoming arrival of the intern.
- The GAOXUNPlacement Team calls each intern following the first week of his or her internship to ensure everything is running smoothly, and then on a monthly basis.
- An GAOXUNstaff member will visit all interns at least once during their internship.
- All interns will receive appraisal forms, which they will be asked to complete and return.
- Host companies are also sent appraisal forms at the completion of the internship.

America Visa: OPT options for F-1 students[edit] For the purposes of OPT, "part-time" work refers to work that is at most 20 hours/week. The term "full-time" could be used either in the sense of "more than part-time" (i.e., more than 20 hours/week) or in the sense of 40 hours/week or more. There are two types of OPT:[8][9] - Pre-completion OPT: This is a type of OPT where people currently pursuing degree programs acquire work authorization to do work related to their field of study. The work may be part-time during academic quarters and full-time during vacations.
- Post-completion OPT: This is a type of OPT for people who have completed their degree requirements, and requires working at least 20 hours/week to count as OPT employment (more later). Ph.D. candidates can apply for post-completion OPT if they are ABD(all but dissertation) and are not simultaneously enrolled as students.
Post-completion OPT for M students[edit] Students on the M-1 visa can, after the completion of their coursework, apply for post-completion Optional Practical Training. However, there are a few ways that this differs from the OPT available to F-1 students:[7][6] - There is no pre-completion option; M-1 students can onlyrequest post-completion OPT.
- Unlike OPT for F students, that can be at most 12 months, a M student's maximum OPT duration depends on the time the student spent as a student. For every four months spent as a student, one month of post-completion OPT can be requested. Since M student status is granted for programs of up to two years, this means that the OPT can be requested effectively for at most six months.
- In addition to filing Form I-765 with the USCIS, Form I-539(to extend or change nonimmigrant status) must also be filed, and the associated fee for it ($290) must be paid over and above the $380 filing fee for Form I-765. This is because, whereas F students are admitted with "D/S" (Duration of Status) on their Form I-94, M students are admitted only for a limited duration, and therefore need to explicitly extend status.
Duration The program duration is 12 months, including additional time of up to one month for settling in, cultural and social activities or arranging departure. Process - First, the international office at the secondary institution (college or university) at which the student is enrolled must recommend the student for OPT with a specified start and end date (with the total time duration requested for OPT being at most one year). This typically involves the student submitting to the international office a proof that he or she will be able to graduate in time to start the OPT, as well as specifying the preferred start and end date.
- After receiving an updated I-20 that shows that the student has been recommended for OPT, the student submits Form I-765, along with some paraphernalia (photos and a fee) to a designated USCISoffice address.
- If the student's OPT application is approved, the USCIS sends an Employment Authorization Document(EAD, also called an EAD card because it has the physical form of a card) to the address specified by the student. The "processing time" taken for an OPT is about 3-4 months. This means that students should aim to submit their Form I-765 about 3-4 months before their expected OPT start date (however, the applications are not accepted more than 90 days before the program end date).
The student need not have a job offer when applying for OPT, and does not need to specify his/her job offer in the application. However, the potential employer may need to be consulted regarding the choice of future start date in order to keep the unemployment period to a minimum. Support Services Orientation All applicants must attend an orientation session upon their arrival into the city. This session occurs every Friday and runs for approximately 40 minutes. The orientation session introduces interns to you and provides useful information on life in that country and helpful tips on topics such as transportation, banking, living and the workplace. Students will be issued with a Welcome Pack and offered the chance to meet their placement consultant. Invitations to the orientation session will be emailed once GAOXUN knows the arrival date of the intern. Insurance All interns are required to have Personal Liability Insurance when undertaking their internship in their country, This insurance covers interns in the workplace should an accident occur. Interns are able to provide their own insurance, as long as they are covered for ‘personal liability’. See Appendix 8 for insurance pricing. Please click here to contact us for placement. We look forward to building a unique internship experience to suite your needs.
